McDonald's has agreed to drop legal action against protesters at the fast food giant's building site in the small Victorian town of Tecoma.
Residents of Tecoma, east of Melbourne, have been fighting against a proposed restaurant since McDonald's lodged its application in 2011.
The local protesters, who formed the group Burger Off, have done everything in their power to stop the restaurant moving in - from flashmobs to a two-week sit-in protest at the proposed site.
Last month, the group took its protest to the McDonald's international headquarters in the United States.
In July, McDonald's took out a court injunction against eight people involved in protests at the Tecoma site earlier this year.
At the time of the legal action, McDonald's said the group acted together in trespassing and being a nuisance.
After mediation talks, both sides have now agreed to drop the legal action.
The matter will now go before a judge before it can be approved.
